Taking center stage is Regenerative Agriculture.
Regenerative farming can be termed as a holistic approach to the traditional methods of agriculture. Its focused more on restoring the soil’s health , ecosystems and maintain the land and environment for the future use.
In contrast to conventional agriculture, regenerative farming emphasizes soil health, farmers’ use of inorganic pesticides and fertilizers, and improved productivity and income.
The ecological benefits of regenerative agriculture are not to be under looked. This method of agriculture not only improves the soil health but also improve crop health and farmers food.
The land quality is improved and this supports the fertility and biodiversity of the soil and environment.
Vertical farming and Urban agriculture.
The past decade has seen the human population grow to wilds number all over the Globe. Most of the arable lands have been taken up for human activity.
The numbers have brought about a higher demand for healthy food production and reduced area for agriculture. To tackle this problem, vertical farming and urban agriculture are the solutions to food production problems.
Utilizing the vertical space and innovative methods like hydroponics and aeroponics can enable urban dwellers to sustainably grow healthy organic food like vegetables among others all through the year.
Such methods not only provide food security for urban farmers but also reduce the carbon footprints caused by industrialization and traffic in urban areas.
The use of technology and Al in organic farming to enhance productivity.
The advancement of technologies that are targeted towards agriculture have revolutionized organic food production.
The use of AI guided drones to hover over crops and collect data to give precise insights to the farmer who is enable to make decisions that increase productivity . Done with less impact to the environment maintaining the soil health.
In a nutshell, Africa’s traditional methods of farming were base of conservation practices and it would be wise to go back and integrate the practices so as to have a sustainable agriculture that will revert the climate change problem.
